I had never been that nervous. Not even when I was about to see Morrissey or Saint Etienne earlier this year. The last time I had this pre-concert anxiety was before Pet Shop Boys’ in 2009.

And prior to their performance that Saturday evening, I had been watching “Let’s Have A Kiki” for dozens of time so that I would be able to do the Kiki routine when they’re playing that song.

I chose to stand on the right side of the front row, because I knew Del Marquis would be exactly in front of me, and who could resist the gorgeousness of Del Marquis?

I touched my forehead – my fever was getting worse. It had been like that for the past three days. But I just couldn’t miss Scissor Sisters. After all, music is the cure to the soul – and hopefully to the physique as well.

And I soon forgot my illness when lights started flashing from the stage and sirens buzzing — it was the intro of “Any Which Way”.

I went histerical. If you knew me pretty well then you would have noticed that I really rarely went hysterical. So that was unusual. Very unusual.

One by one the additional vocalists and the boys started to walk to the stage. The chubby Babydaddy was in the far left and Del Marquis, as expected, was exactly in front of me. He was wearing a pair of flashy tight pants – perfect to show his gorgeous groove.

The crowd cheered when Jake Shears and Ana Matronic took over the centre stage and sang the hit from the 2010 Night Work album. It really was a killer opener.

And the song was brilliantly followed (as a medley) by the very catchy “Keep Your Shoes On”.

I personally think, that “Keep Your Shoes On” and “Shady Love”, which was also played later that evening, have the sort of tune that make me difficult to resist to dance gayly.

Apart from those two, some more songs from their latest Magic Hour were performed, including the latest hit “Baby Come Home”, the ballad “Inevitable”, and of course, “Let’s Have A Kiki”.

I deliberately took a break from taking pictures so that I could join their kiki. And be absolutely mesmerised by the gorgeous Del Marquis shaking the tambourine..

Ana and Jake along with the two backing vocals danced synchronisedly on the centre of the stage, and that Kiki really was..
marvellous!

The mid-part of the performance was nicely filled with their hits from the previous albums, mostly from their self-titled debut: “Take Your Mama”, and the cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb”.

Jake and Ana were awesome — basically it was difficult to stand still throughout the gig. Jake’s act was provocative as usual, although it seemed that he was holding back a bit.. maybe because he had been told that Indonesia had some retarded bastards who couldn’t tolerate his act.

A hit from “Night Work”, “Invisible Light” was performed with a brilliant visual display and flashing, eye-blinding lights. Invisible Light was my personal favourite from Night Work album, and despite being overly filled with beautiful people, I like the music video. For me it was truly artsy, not vulgar. Plus it was super special because it featured the legendary Ian McKellen. (see the live version)

And of course, they played the very popular, very catchy, and ironically, very danceable “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'”. The 2008 hit from their sophomore album “Ta-dah!” closed their performance that evening. But not without an encore. Surely 12 songs were not enough.

So they came back to sing “Only The Horses”, their first single from Magic Hour.

They wrapped up their performance with “Music is the Victim”, where Ana had the custom of taking off her shoes. Unfortunately nobody gave Jake an Indonesian sarong, because maybe he would’ve taken his underpants, like what he did during T in the Park at which he was wearing a Scottish kilt. 😀

For me 14 songs seemed very few, and suddenly the gig was over already. I had a great time though, it was a very nice crowd and everybody seemed to enjoy their time.

One flaw however; the photographers were allowed to be in the media pit until the end of the show, which for me was very disturbing. Not only because they were annoyingly huge, but also because most of them were not so keen on the sisters. Even worse, some of them had neither ethics nor respect towards the audience. Gits.

Anyway, here are some more photos from the sisters..

And extra photos of the gorrrrgeous del marquis!
