And don’t forget the Mancunian Lisa Stansfield! After the success of her debut album “Affection” in 1989, Stansfield released “Real Love” two years later. I remember that I was rather disappointed to see a more feminine Stansfield, as I was very much intrigued by her (sort of) non-binary look in “All Around the World”. I was lucky enough to see her live at the Java Jazz Festival in 2013, and she still had the same amazing voice as she had had 30 years ago.
I was also lucky to see Rick Astley live in 2008, and he was totes adorbs. Even until now. Have you seen him singing George Ezra’s “Shotgun” and rickrolled Foo Fighters with “Never Gonna Give You Up?”
Another act whom I went to see live years after they became famous was Color Me Badd. It was 2012, and they played at Java Soulnation. I never identified myself as their fan, but apparently, songs you listen to in your early age got stuck in your head forever so the lyrics of “All For Love” was smoothly flowing out of my mouth 21 years later.
Surely I have seen Pet Shop Boys and they played “Jealousy” in both their 2009 Pandemonium tour and 2013 Electric tour. But I will just let me stop my story here because or else I can talk about Pet Shop Boys all day, along with music trivia on them.
