The name of this band kept popping in my facebook the last couple of months. I realised that usually it was because the band has similar music as the one I ‘like’, calculated by (I assumed) the number of people who had the same music preference as I do and ‘like’ the band. And of course, facebook gave you peer ‘pressure’; saying that a friend/friends also like this band.
In my case, it was Octa. He always knows the latest music trends and since we are the same age we basically grew up liking the same bands.
A few days before the festival I had a look on their videos and surely I found them interesting. It had been a while for me to see a fresh indie band that really stands out. So I couldn’t wait to see them.
I was still finishing my chicken katsu when they took the stage. The original members were twin brothers Miles and Marcus Haughton plus old friend Oscar Manthorpe (all play guitars and share the vocals, although Miles mainly sings), and that evening they also took Ric Hollingbery (bass) and Phil Jordan (drums).
The performance was really nice, some fans could even already sing-along to the songs, cool! I guess they have developed a new fanbase here. The crowd got excited when the boys started to play “Milk”. They also played some other hits like “Wax” and “Jamaica”.
