It’s summer solstice so it’s time for a summer mixtape!
Going to a park on a summer day always reminded me of Sesame Street, and in Sesame Street they always have some letters for children to learn – so this mixtape is specifically for summery songs that start with the letter “S”. Opened with a Sesame Street Theme, the first part of the mixtape consists of happy indiepop songs, which I think is very suitable for a sunny summer picnic – walking to a park, unfurling the picnic mat and opening the basket, before eating some very nice cupcakes. It continues with some very uptempo songs from Style Council and White Shoes and the Couples Company before it goes back to some indiepop and 90s pop of Pet Shop Boys and The Divine Comedy – to reminisce some nice memories during the afternoon picnic. And the last part consists of jazz, chill out electronic music to listen to while you cycle back home from the picnic. The sun is setting, and you can smell the summer breeze in the air.
